How to oppose federal, state, local, employer, school, and club masking guidelines
Masks don't work. So why do we have masking requirements on planes, at work, etc? What's the best way to end the madness?
I’m currently in a “disagreement” with the management at Martis Camp (a private club adjacent to the Northstar ski resort in Truckee, CA) over their ridiculous masking rules. Their policy is that they “request” that Members wear a mask and, even worse, they require all employees to wear a mask. But apparently what they mean by “request” is “require” since they keep “requesting” I wear a mask (a subtle hint that it is really a requirement even though that’s not what the policy says).
I said there was no scientific basis for that, that mask are harmful to health, and that the local, state, and federal guidelines are all advisory, not mandatory.
They said if I comply with the government guidelines it is not sufficient. They said I must comply with their guidelines. Wow.
They were not interested in discussing the science or medical rational. I asked for the cost-benefit analysis they used to come up with this recommendation. I received nothing. I asked for the name of their (obviously incompetent) medical advisor who is advising the board, and received no answer.
This is ridiculous. What is happening at Martis Camp is no different than what is happening everywhere else. The fact that science doesn’t matter to any of these people is evidence of mass brainwashing. People do what the are told to do, even if it harms their health. They don’t question authority even when the authority is wrong.
Can we fight back and start to challenge these rules?
There are at least seven different cases here:
Federal guidelines, most notably on airplanes
State guidelines
Local (county) guidelines
Employer guidelines
School / university guidelines (private and public)
Stores
Private club guidelines
Which of these can be successfully challenged on the basis that masks have no benefit and are harmful to health?
Actions you can take:
Provide your advice to me in the comments, especially if you know where these regulations have been successfully challenged and overturned. Update: many of you referred me to Peggy Hall and The Healthy American. Her name keeps coming up for sure.

A few days ago in Oklahoma ... a judge ruled positively against school mask mandates ... got this info from Coffee & Covid (a lawyer in Fl worth following ... and lawyers arfe generally not my cup of tea :-)

I documented a fairly complicated strategy that I used to get my daughter out of New Jersey’s school mask mandate in a comment last week, but here’s a simpler technique that worked for me today. I was taking my daughter to the pediatrician for her annual physical. The message I received prior to the appointment stated that masks must be worn at all times inside the building. But neither my daughter nor I wore one.
I thought of it this way. If I own a bar, my policy can be to serve alcohol to people under 21 but I have to hope that no one reports me or that I don’t get busted because what I’m doing is against the law.
Likewise, the doctor’s *policy* may be to require masks but forcing someone to wear one is against the law (international human rights and bioethics laws). When asked to put one on, a polite and friendly “no thank you” is sufficient. End of conversation.
