Santa Clara County to mandate vaccination by Jan 24, 2022
Every employee who enters the county and operates in "higher-risk" setting must be boosted or exempted. The County Executive is doing the same mandate for all County employees. Dumb ideas.

My phone has been lighting up recently. People in healthcare are livid about the latest mandate from Sara Cody, the public health officer of Santa Clara County where I live that goes into effect just 4 days from now.
Her mandate to them is simple: get boosted or you’re fired. While her mandate only applies for “Higher-Risk Settings” this designation applies to just about every role that comes into contact with patients according to doctors I’ve spoken with.
Here are the documents that are of interest:
Cody’s order to get boosted by Jan 24, 2022
Waiver request form listing what people who want a waiver have to do at all times which includes being prohibited from using break rooms or cafeterias, and from eating indoors when others are present in the same airspace.
What her order will do is increase the chance that healthcare workers will be infected with COVID as shown by this chart of the UK government data:
Dr. Cody will decimate the health of the remaining workers as shown above.
We could see attrition of 30% of:
medical workers in our hospitals just from the people who quit because they refuse to take the booster, putting patient care at risk.
We’ll see staff shortages of police and firemen.
We’ll see significant staff reductions of people who work in jails.
Combined with the increased likelihood that the remaining workers will be sick as shown in the graph above, Dr. Cody will be single handedly creating a massive crisis in Santa Clara County.
Exemptions won’t work
This is the clause from Sara Cody memo dated January 4 that would lead to termination. “As explained below in section C.2, regardless of exemption status, effective no later than February 1, 2022, County personnel are not permitted to work in higher-risk settings at County facilities if they are not fully vaccinated and, as of January 24, 2022, up-to-date.”
Patient safety was never the priority
There are no studies anywhere in the world showing unvaccinated healthcare workers with no symptoms are a risk to patients. So there is no science backing her mandate. Just fear.
Dr. Sara Cody makes her mandates based on her belief system. And she has the 100% backing of the County Executive who is mandating something similar for all County employees.
The Santa Clara Board of Supervisors likely will do nothing.
My suggestion to healthcare workers (and everyone else) is do not take the shot and opt for a religious or medical exemption. Your health is not worth a job. Let them fire you if they don’t accept your exemption. And if you are a business owner, you may need to fire yourself. This means that many medical offices will all need to close and move their practice out of the county.
The county really doesn’t want you if you aren’t boosted.
Sara Cody is dumber than a rock
This has been tried before Sara. Why should it succeed this time?
Everyone knows that in South Australia the Premier and Chief Medical Officer sacked all health care workers, police officers, firemen, paramedics etc who refused to get double jabbed. Needless to say, staff shortages followed. This was - comically if not so consequential - followed by many of the vaccinated staff contracting COVID, leading to extreme staffing issues. So bad, in fact, that an edict was issued that all staff who tested positive for Covid19, but were asymptomatic, must continue to work, treating patients, etc.
We’ll just repeat what happened there. Sara doesn’t learn from what has been tried else where and she doesn’t follow the science. How she is still in her job is the big mystery.
I think Sara is trying to show she can drive the case numbers higher than Israel
The Board of Supervisors will continue to support Dr. Cody
Dr. Cody has clearly done a superb job in managing the pandemic. As you can see, her numbers are off-the-chart:
Following her advice to vaccinate people has made things worse than ever before. Why? Because the vaccine actually helps people to get infected after a brief efficacy period. That’s exactly what is happening.
Now she has new advice, not based on science, for us to follow. The results will be even worse. She keeps making the same mistake.
The Board of Supervisors is never going to figure out that the numbers are supposed to be going DOWN when you are doing your job, not up.
What a disaster. Thank you Sara Cody and the Santa Clara Board of Supervisors for your outstanding leadership in this area. You all are setting an example for how to make things a lot worse.
Meanwhile in the UK, they are doing the opposite
Boris Johnson just removed most of the Covid restrictions in the UK. No COVID passports, no mask mandates, no work restrictions.
Bravo. Someday, we’ll figure this out in America.

I believe, Sara Cody is just a facade. I'm very curious about Dr Marty Fenstersheib, in various sources he's called "testing and vaccination guru", "SCC health officer", "vaccination director" etc. but it's impossible to find his official position and contacts on the county website. He retired in 2013, then in 2020 he was an interim health officer in San Benito county and was practically fired (quit under pressure) by Peter Hernandez for refusing to re-open businesses. Then he ended up back in Santa Clara in a newly created role of "testing and vaccination officer" while Sara Cody struggled with getting enough people tested. He succeeded with both testing numbers and vaccinations. In July 2021 he retired again. Then, in December 2021, he magically reappeared in the same role with the county, urging people to get boosted. Now the county requires boosters.
Transparent California shows that his last salary was in 2013, and he's receiving pension with the number of years of service not changing since 2013. There is no salary for 2020. Is he even employed by SCC? How does someone find out a public employee record?
